Facebook 12th anniversary feted with #FriendsDay videos, stickers.

Facebook celebrated its 12th birthday on February 4, 2016, with the worldwide launch of Friends Day videos—editable and sharable clips that highlight shared memories with friends.

An automatically compiled video will appear at the top of your News Feed, or can be viewed by clicking the "Watch Yours" option on friends' videos.

Your own Friends Day video can be shared directly or edited and customized with photos of your choice.
Facebook is also launching special Friends Day sticker packs, which can be downloaded here.

Double growth in 5 years

Facebook claims its user base has doubled in the past five years alone to over 1.5 billion users as of early 2016. With so many people in the community, the chance of a close connection between any two users is more likely.
"The degrees of separation between a typical pair of Facebook users has continued to decrease to 3.57 degrees, down from about 3.74 degrees in 2011. This is a significant reflection of how closely connected we've become even as we've continued to grow," the company said in its press release.

Celebrating connections

Earlier in the week, Facebook invited 18 members of the social network from around the world to its Menlo Park headquarters to share their stories.

Zuckerberg said that the meeting helped reaffirm his company's efforts to bring people together.

"That's what the best movements do. You find ways to keep it focused on the needs of the community, and it's not about you. And that's the whole point of Friends Day. We felt like the world was making it too much about us and it's not about us," he was quoted as saying. — GMA News
